But what do you do when you're feeling really down But what do you do when you're feeling really down? Someone asked me recently. When you're so depressed you don't even want to be on earth anymore. What do you do? I think we all have our go-to emergency kits of comfort for our emotions and bodies. And experimenting and seeing what you can add to that when you're not feeling so overwhelmed by emotions that being in the moment is unbearable is helpful. But it is important to acknowledge when these moments happen. That you ARE going through whatever it is that is challenging. It doesn't matter if someone else doesn't think that's challenging, it's not their experience. You choose. But healing doesn't mean you have to go back and relive a moment of trauma or abuse to its full remembering. You can simply acknowledge what is happening in your body and your mind and your emotions. I believe that is where so many people get hung up. Because there is a fear that you're going to go through the pain again. Or that it will be worse if you haven't actually felt it the first time. And so that is how we are so caught in distractions and diversions. How it is easy to jump into the whole positive vibes only mindset AKA spiritual bypassing. BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO IS let it come up and roll through you. To cry it out or scream it or punch the pillows or the shower curtain (my personal favorite) journal, speak to a friend, a counselor a support person. And this acknowledgment is what lets you finally release it. And then you can reach out to the diversions and therapies. Like exercise, journaling, somatic body work, meditation or any and all of the self-care methods you have gathered or are interested in. Today I'm writing this because it's from the heart and an experience that I had today. It was tough. It was scary and all the emotions. It was a full PTSD episode. But I did what I am writing about and here I am on the other side. I'm not 100%. Let's be real this s*** is really intense But I'm here. And so too, will you be.
