9 Ways to Stop Feeling Tired, Right Now!
You probably already know the top reason empaths and highly sensitive people get tired.
It’s because we have a tendency to hold on to the energy from other people, places or things. And sometimes we can get so fixated on understanding how to navigate our emotional and energetic systems that that we forget we are also human beings having a physical existence.
And often moving from being tired to energized is simply as easy as listening to our bodies and giving them what they need.
So here’s 9 easy, actionable steps to get you feeling brighter and full of energy!
1. Take a Screen Break
That means tv, phone, computer even the lightbox if you’re an artist or designer. Get refreshed with a walk, some exercise or do the next thing.
2. Get Out in Nature!
Go for a walk -if you can shoes off (season and location permitting), touch the ground, enjoy green or natural spaces and relax. Connecting to nature will ground you and naturally recharge your batteries. You can also try some of these methods to get grounded.
3. Eat Grounding Food
These also happen to be nutrient dense and in addition to grounding you, will give you an energy boost within mins and can last the next few hours. Think root veggies, nuts and nut butters, squashes, etc.
Bonus! combining carbs with protein gives you natural glucose from the cars and tyrosine (an amino acid precursor to neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine, which create alertness) from the protein.
4. Take a Power Nap
Some people find that short sleeps will actually boost their energy and productivity. Remember, the world won’t end if you take a break! And hey love, practice some self care here. If you’re beyond tired and headed into exhausted – sleep! ♥
Deep breathing is the quickest way to re-energize! There are many methods including the inhale-hold-exhale cycles, Yogic Stimulating Breath (also called Bellows Breathing, or Bhastrika). Try out a few and see what works best.
6. Drink a Big Glass of Water.
Often when we’re tired it’s actually because we are dehydrated. Sometimes we even feel hungry when in fact our body just needs water. So grab the best source you can and enjoy.
7. Limit your Sitting Time.
Did you know that alternating between sitting and standing every 30 to 60 minutes, can boost your metabolism and revitalize you? If you can, invest in a sit-stand desk or schedule breaks into your work time.
8. Reduce your Stress with a Laughter Break!
A 2012 University of Oxford study showed that belly laughs cause the body to release endorphins. Not only does it stave off depression, the emotional calm and sense of well-being created will give you a boost of instant energy. 9. Let it go. Literally.
Did you know that one of the top reasons people get tired is because they are holding on to something mentally. Whether you are consciously thinking about it or not! See if you can let go of those items in your life that are weighing you down. Things you’ve been meaning to fix for years, unused gifts, leftovers from classes and hobbies you have no interest in anymore.let them go, re-gift them and clear the space around you. And you’ll quickly find your energy jump up because you’re no longer attached to them.
Taking time to listen to your body and giving it what it needs is essential.
Especially when it comes to one of our most precious resources, our energy. Following some simple steps like the ones above will not only make you feel less tired and stressed, but also help you feel more energized, vital and productive.
